Dominion Wins the SmartCEO Future 50 Award for 3rd Year in a Row
Last Thursday, ten of us braved snow squalls and howling winds to attend the (ironically Hawaiian-themed) 2017 SmartCEO Future 50 Awards Gala. Held at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, 2017 marks the third year in a row that Dominion Consulting has won. We all felt excited as the Future 50 award is a prestigious honor for a company of our size.
The Future 50 awards are awarded to companies that “represent the future of the region’s economy and embody the entrepreneurial spirit critical for leadership and success”. Winners are chosen based on a three-year average of employee and revenue growth. Dominion winning three years in a row is a testament to the success we have had in recent years.
Enjoying our Success
The evening started off with a cocktail hour and VIP reception, followed by a formal dinner. As dessert arrived, the awards presentation began. Each award-winning company provided short video clips. The clips explained what sets their company apart from the pack. As our CEO, Dan Maguire put it,
We want individuality from each person, but we need to follow the same basic guidelines to be organizationally compliant and successful in our business endeavors.
Given that mindset, this past year we standardized corporate processes through ISO 9001:2015 certification. Even with that level of standardization though, “empowering team members to be prosperous is truly the best way an organization can thrive”.
This year’s gala marked my second Future 50 awards ceremony. It is inspiring to listen to so many CEOs, from so many different industries. Each CEO gave advice on growing their business in a competitive environment. It was also fun to meet people that work for these companies. Their take on what it’s like to work for a ‘fast growth’ company helped put my experiences into better perspective.
As Jaime Nespor-Zawmon, the President of SmartCEO said,
These passionate and driven entrepreneurs embody the true definition of leadership. We honor them for their unwavering commitment to building their businesses, shaping our communities and making our region a better place to work and live.
If you attended the awards, we’d love to hear your take on things. Shoot us a tweet or send us a note and let us know your thoughts!
