As Dominion Consulting continues to grow, an important consideration is, “Where will our marketing dollars go?” We have always believed it is important to sponsor and participate in events and member organizations that reflect our capabilities. Our consultants want to interact with and learn from their industry colleagues. Most importantly, it is also a great tool for our employees to earn CPEs to keep their certifications current.
Dominion could not be more proud of our relationship with the Association of Government Accountants (AGA). Three years ago Dominion joined the Corporate Partner Advisory Group (CPAG), increasing our involvement with the AGA. We have already had a busy year working with the AGA.
The 2017 Financial Systems Summit
On January 13, we were proud to be a Platinum Sponsor for the 2017 Financial Systems Summit. As a Platinum Sponsor, Dominion had the ability to help shape the agenda, share our insight, and strengthen our brand and tagline, “Focused on Your Future.” Our extensive Shared Services support at the US Department of Agriculture, made it a critical year for us in deciding to sponsor this event. Over the past two years, we have had the opportunity to work with the SAP and Momentum Financials platforms offered at USDA. This has increased our visibility into the strengths and weaknesses of both offerings, and how they should be positioned in the market. This has also provided us the ability to help USDA shape how both are offered to Federal customers.
There were many topics discussed in this one day event. We learned about the status of OMB initiatives and the overall progress of Standard Business Processes and Outcomes. There were multiple discussion on how we should think about optimizing both the Federal and Defense Financial Environments. This presents a great chance for our staff to reconnect with industry partners we might not have seen in awhile, regroup and focus after the holiday season. Additionally, they also learn where Government leaders want their agencies and Financial Systems to go in the coming year.
National Leadership Training
We followed this exciting event with the National Leadership Training event on February 15-16 in the Ronald Reagan Building. At this event, we unveiled our newly branded booth, and share our capabilities around Financial Management and Shared Services with over 400 industry leaders and Federal Executives. This two-day event was a chance to listen to panel discussions on the various leadership challenges each faces in a budget constrained Federal Environment.
It was also interesting and informative to hear other executives discuss how they manage in complex environments, message organization change, and hiring that next level of management. These resonated with me since these are all considerations our executive team faces as we continue to grow and aggressively position ourselves in challenging market.
Dominion and the AGA in 2017
2017 will mark our greatest level of involvement with the AGA yet. We are already planning on three more events this year. You will be able to find us in May at the CFO/CIO Summit and at July’s Professional Development Training. We will be wrapping up the year again at the Shared Services Summit in October. Be on the lookout for recaps of other upcoming AGA events or talk to us while there.
